Paul’s epistle to the Galatians addresses the issue of whether Gentile converts to Christianity must be circumcised and adhere to the Mosaic Law as part of their conversion. With his apostolic teachings under attack by agitators who require adherence to Judaism as an addition to Christian faith, Paul vigorously defends his calling and the gospel of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ alone. Paul’s message of total trust in God rather than confidence in religious piety continues to be relevant today amid human striving to perform and achieve. For the Christian, it’s no longer about “have to” and all about “want to.”
